Overview

The H-3 visa is for foreign nationals coming to the United States to receive training (other than graduate medical training) not available in their home country, or to participate in a special education exchange visitor program. The training should not be primarily productive employment.

  • Employees developing skills to use outside the U.S.

Structured program

The petition must describe a genuine training program and its benefit.

Duration

Up to 2 years for trainees (shorter for special-education programs).

Not for U.S. employment

Productive work must be incidental to the training.
